Ozerekya Breakout

Ozerekya Breakout - In the early hours, 4 February 1943, Soviet seaborne forces landed on the beaches of Yuzhnaya Ozerekya, and throughout the morning had advanced two-kilometres inland, behind a tank spearhead of American Stuart tanks; conducting what was in essence, a reconnaissance in force. By the late afternoon, this force threatened to capture the Axis held town of Glebovka.
